Apple squares Dough Stuffing 1 cup margarine 2 pounds apples 4 cups flour 4 tablespoons sugar 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 4 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 eggs 1/2 cup icing sugar 1 egg yolk 6 tablespoons sour cream Cut the margarine into the flour with a knife and rub in with fingertips, add the sugar and the baking powder, mix. Add the eggs, egg yolk, and sour cream. Knead the dough for few minutes. Roll out 2 rectangles, 8 1/2 by 12. place one in a pan, buttered and sprinkled with bread crumbs. Bake in a moderate 375 degree's F. oven for 15 minutes. Remove , cover with the apples, shredded and mixed with sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Cover with the second rectangle. Return to the oven, bake for 45 minutes. Cool slightly remove from the pan. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar through a sieve. Cut into 32 pieces.
